All manuscripts submitted to Basic and Clinical Cancer Reports (BCCR) undergo a rigorous and transparent peer-review process.
Upon submission, each manuscript is first evaluated by the editorial team to determine whether it falls within the journal’s scope and meets the basic requirements for publication, including scientific quality, originality, ethical standards, and compliance with the journal’s submission guidelines.
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment are sent for double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. The identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the peer-review process.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on their scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, clarity, relevance to the journal’s scope, and ethical considerations. Reviewers provide recommendations and constructive comments to assist the editors in making an informed editorial decision.
Based on the reviewers’ reports and the overall scientific quality of the manuscript, the Editor-in-Chief or a designated member of the Editorial Board makes the final decision to accept, request revision, or reject the manuscript.
When revisions are requested, authors are expected to respond to reviewers’ comments and submit a revised version within the specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
The final editorial decision is the responsibility of the journal and is not determined solely by the recommendation of any individual reviewer.
BCCR does not guarantee acceptance of any manuscript and does not allow authors, editors, or reviewers to influence the peer-review process through conflicts of interest or inappropriate interference.
